⬤ 01. Challenges

Design Challenges

Some of the largest challenges I faced while making these designs were learning about milling which I had very little prior knowledge with and combining the clients’ wants with my personal style.

While learning about milling I found that there are many ways to mill something and there are many things that get milled and because this is a logo for a guild of millers you need to cover as many bases as you can so I did that by adding corn, wheat and hands. It was important to show the hands because that shows that people are behind the work that is going on.

In this process I was originally showing work that I would enjoy making then they had other ideas so I adapted to more of what they wanted and worked with them to design a logo that would stick to my style but reach all the needs that they wanted.

⬤ 02. Experience

Learning how to create something that was for a guild.

This project was to design a logo for a guild so there are many groups of people that this logo has to be catered towards. There are so many different ways to mill and so many things that need to be milled so just learning about all of this and collaborating with the client to make this a logo that shows as much of the guild as possible was an incredible experience.

⬤ 03. Process

Logo from start to finish.

Creating a logo for a brand that you do not know about starts with working with the client to learn as much as you can about what it is that they do. Then it is time to do personal research to continue to learn more about the brand and to learn more about other similar brands to see what works well for them to see if that is something I could incorporate into this project. Then you just continue to research, create and stay in contact with the client until you develop a final logo.
