⬤ 01. Challenges

Design Challenges

A challenge we overcame while working on this client was learning how to balance the client’s wishes with the designer’s opinion.

It is important when creating a logo to make high-quality assets that are able to be resized without losing any detail. This was difficult at first because the client wanted many different elements included in the logo. Sometimes it required more flexibility on the designer’s end, but we were still able to give my professional opinion on certain things. Overall, we were able to blend visions and create a successful project.

We used digital illustration and hand-drawn elements to create the organic feel of the logo and brand assets. The final designs will be used in future branding for Rising Appalachia, including the organization’s website, merchandise, and advertising efforts.

⬤ 02. Experience

Balancing fun, sustainability, and impact

We started by gathering insight on the client’s wishes using various inspiration images to brainstorm the style, feel, and look of the organization. Throughout the iterative process, we produced over 15 hand-drawn logo variations that were tweaked after feedback from the client. This was all in an attempt to balance streamline and aesthetic design with messaging that felt true to Rising Appalachia’s brand.

The images below show final logo variations for the organization as well as alternative logos for their different needs. After several rounds of redesigns based on client feedback, we were able to create a design that showcases the playfulness of the organization while giving a clear idea of their brand mission.
