Amesville Revitalization Organization

⬤ 01. Challenges

Design Challenges

ARO is a non-profit organization founded in Amesville, Ohio. Originating from Facebook, the ARO team was determined to design a logo that was memorable, simple, and whimsical all while holding that small-town feel that they are known for. While deciding a name is very important in the branding process, it is also just as important to have aspects such as a logo, a color palette, and font choices. Having these aspects increases the likelihood of ARO reaching farther than just Amesville, which is a long-term goal of theirs.

Revolving around these requirements, we created this timeless logo that properly represents ARO without focusing solely on Amesville. As we chose the brand colors and fonts that best fit the goals of ARO, we also designed the ARO raccoon character that can be used in visual illustrations, advertisements, and social media posts.

⬤ 02. Experience

Balancing whimsy, professionalism, and readability

ARO started with just a name. There were no color choices, font choices, logo, mascot, or even a wordmark. From starting with a lot of creative freedom, to narrowing the concepts down one-by-one, this project was fairly large. ARO revolves around community and working together. This means that they need a great brand identity to allow their community to grow and expand past Amesville itself.

The following images show the process work of the main logo design. Exploring different avenues and styles, we eventually found a design that was timeless and completely reflected the themes of ARO.
